Tow Arrangement
Tow Pivots
   
Pivot between drawbar and tow frame has machined bushes running on a stainless steel pivot bar. Stainless pivot locks attach the frame to the tow pins. Matched locks so one key does both sides.
A small stainless steel tow pin each side is all that is fitted to bike to pull trailer. Notice electrical socket - almost invisible behind number plate (or it would have been if we had done the bracket black and not silver... )

Inner pocket with power outlet for GPS / Phone etc. Handy to keep small items / documents in whilst traveling. Notice too the power socket into the trailer - for charging larger items. Also internal light to light trailer / pocket (Twin bulb - this really does light the trailer)
Helmet in trailer to gauge capacity. Note the length of items you can fit in the trailer. You can take a table and chairs with you. Intrusion for suspension and wheel has been kept as small as possible. Extra storage space at rear keeps centre of gravity nearer the wheel - away from the bike.

Flush lid lock. Large button in middle is glove friendly. Custom paintwork is available.
Lock can be used locked OR unlocked - you don't need a key all the time to operate it.

Gas strut to hold lid open. It won't whack you on the back of the head whilst you are loading / unloading. Trailer fully lined with 2mm thick wool / viscose felt mix to protect your load.

Yes - of course it adds to the un-sprung weight of your rear wheel and as such will affect the handling - just like luggage in the picture below affects the handling...

Remember the trailer is the ALTERNATIVE to the picture above - I've done both - I know which one rides better and feels safer...

 

Trailer Body

Single piece fibreglass molding for ultimate rigidity, lightness and strength. Purpose designed and made by a local company that also manufactures fibreglass Formula One components. Highly complex 7 part mould allows the body to be made in one piece for maximum strength and durability. The body and lid on their own weigh just 16.5Kg Flush fitting lid with internal hinges and flush glove friendly lock. Can be used locked or unlocked.

Colour

You can have it any colour you like! The base price includes any colour of your choice. If you can get your bike to us then we can colour match it to your bike or we should be able to match it from the paint code.

Chassis

The chassis is a single rail steel chassis and is powder coated for longevity and to prevent corrosion. The swing arm is mounted to the chassis via two steel ball race bearings. The chassis is symmetrical which allows for the wheel to be mounted facing either left or right to suit your bike by changing the swing arm.

Suspension

The suspension system is simple, robust and maintenance free. It uses a specially manufactured fully bonded rubber suspension unit actuated with a link arm - much like most modern sports bikes in principal.

Lighting

High intensity Hella lights are used on the trailer. Although recessed the tail/brake and both indicators are visible from more than 45 degrees each side of the trailer rear - complying with all european and international lighting requirements for visibility. Additional side marker lights are available as an option should you so desire. The Lighting for the trailer also uses an intelligent control system. This means that the trailer lights are completely independent of the bikes wiring system and will not affect any indicator repeat rates, bulb failure or ABS functions and will work with the latest KTM, Ducati and BMW CAN-bus equipped systems.


Bike Fitments

Not all fitments will be suitable for every bike. We are however working hard to make our trailer available to anyone who would like one.

  • Hollow Rear Axle

Two tow pivots are attached each side of the rear axle bolt by passing a threaded rod through the centre. The rod is centred by two bushes.

  • Solid Rear Axle

We are working on a solid rear axle fitment. The drop plates we designed are not working out as we had envisaged - so we are still working on this one...

  • Standard Tow Ball Replacement

We will shortly have our tow Vee available as a direct replacement fit for the standard UK tow ball mount.

  • Single Sided Swing Arm

We are working on a single sided swing arm fitment - but this is proving more problematical.

  • Custom Fitment

There are some bikes that just do not lend themselves to any of the above fitments. In this case we will manufacture a custom frame specifically for that model bike.

Comparison

Just remember - this is a trailer to "replace" all the panniers and kit that you would otherwise have strapped to your bike when you go touring. The true comparison is:-

 

BIke fully loaded with panniers, extended tank bag, top box, stuff on top of that, tail bag and bungee straps holding the other stuff. (All the weight high up) Probably partly insecure - unable to leave bike unattended
